In-Person Volunteer Opportunities

We are pausing most of our in-person volunteering for the summer months of 2024.

Our fiscal year ended June 30, and we closed our warehouse for most of the month for our year-end book inventory. In addition, we have put onsite volunteering on hold for July and August (as we did last year) due to the heat in our non-climate-controlled warehouse.

We plan to resume in-person volunteering after Labor Day. Please check this page for updates, which we hope to have posted here by early August.

In the meantime, please visit our Volunteer Projects page for more information on projects that can be completed from the comfort of your home or office. Please contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Thank you!

Volunteer Sponsorships

Sponsorship opportunities are available for each of our programs, annual events, and large volunteer experiences.

Custom Volunteer Experiences

Custom volunteer events can be arranged for groups of 13 or more at our location or yours. Custom projects start at $25 per volunteer for a two hour event plus the cost of project supplies. To arrange a custom event, click to email us.

Volunteer Build Sponsorships

Want a high impact hands-on group project? Groups get to build a custom Free Little Library or a Reading Resource Center (bookshelf). Finished projects serve affordable housing communities and offer free books to residents. Sponsorship covers: materials, tool rental, event management, and books to fill the finished project. Email us to learn more!

Volunteer Projects

Groups and individuals can support our work in a variety of ways. The volunteer opportunities below can be done in any location and we’ll provide you with the templates and instructions to get you started.

Virtual Book Drive

Help under-resourced children build diverse libraries by hosting a virtual book drive. Download our Virtual Book Drive Flyer that links to our online book wish lists or direct participants to visit one of our independent book store partners to purchase books locally.

Bookworms & Bookmarks

If you’re feeling crafty, you can build Bookworm Buddies, color our Bilingual Bookmarks, or fold little origami bookmarks. All three projects are fun, portable, and are given to our students to foster a love of reading. Download our templates and instructions here. Bookworm Projects

Host a Book Drive

Collect new and donated children’s books and drop them off at our Operations Center. Use our How To Run A Book Drive guide and our customizable flyers to save time!
