In-Person Volunteer Opportunities
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us! Groups and individuals (16 years and older) are invited to join us in our warehouse to help us clean and repair the 280,000+ books that pass through our facility each year.
Before booking a volunteer shift, please read through the important information below:
- We do not offer volunteer events on nights and weekends (for evening/weekend events please see our “To Go” Projects)
- Volunteer shifts are 2 hours long and closed-toed shoes are required
- Our warehouse is NOT temperature-controlled and all volunteers should dress according to the temperature outside
- If you’re experiencing COVID or Flu-like symptoms leading up to your event, please join us at another time

Volunteer Projects
Groups and individuals can support our work in a variety of ways. The volunteer opportunities below can be done in any location and we’ll provide you with the templates and instructions to get you started.
Virtual Book Drive
Help under-resourced children build diverse libraries by hosting a virtual book drive. Download our Virtual Book Drive Flyer that links to our online book wish lists or direct participants to visit one of our independent book store partners to purchase books locally.
Bookworms & Bookmarks
If you’re feeling crafty, you can build Bookworm Buddies, color our Bilingual Bookmarks, or fold little origami bookmarks. All three projects are fun, portable, and are given to our students to foster a love of reading. Download our templates and instructions here. Bookworm Projects
Host a Book Drive
Collect new and donated children’s books and drop them off at our Operations Center. Use our How To Run A Book Drive guide and our customizable flyers to save time!
