For the last 12 years, the Rotary Club of Davidson has supported local nonprofits through their unique fundraiser, “The Giving Tree Village”. 60 trees are set up in the Davidson Town Square, which are sponsored and decorated by local nonprofits and supporting businesses.

As the major attraction during the Town of Davidson’s annual

Christmas in Davidson celebration, thousands of visitors walk through the Giving Tree Village to view the decorated trees and vote for their favorite tree/nonprofit.

Each tree is a work of art, a message, or an expression of an organization’s mission and spirit. Promising Pages has been the beneficiary of 1 of these 60 coveted trees for the last five years. We’ve had some winners and some that should have been winners!  Take a look at our ghosts of Christmas Trees Past.

I asked our fantastic sponsors, the Women With a Spine Book Club, to weigh in on the four themes I had rolling around my head. To my surprise, they embraced the crazy and chose the tree full of nuts and squirrel books! (pictured at the top)

Now we’re asking you to help us raise spirits and some dollars by voting for our lovable, nutty tree. Not only does each vote raise $5 to support literacy, but you could help us win additional cash prizes!

Between juggling work, family, and the general chaos of the holidays, this time of year can feel a little crazy. I hope you’ll join the Women With a Spine Book Club and embrace this nutty world with a smile and a good book.

With gratitude and cheer,

Kelly
