Cabarrus Partnership For Children

The Cabarrus County Partnership for Children offers a universal application that allows parents to apply for their four year old child(ren) to attend any of Cabarrus County’s FREE, high-quality preschool programs during the academic school year.

Parents as Teachers

Parents As Teachers is a voluntary early childhood development home visiting program offering research-based curricula that help families raise children to be healthy, safe, and ready to learn in school.

Kids Interactive Developmental Services (KIDS)

Kids Interactive Developmental Services’ mission is to equip families with essential resources and education to effectively address their children’s developmental and social emotional needs. Their Early Intervention service focuses on creating customized learning environments and activities that promote skill acquisition across cognitive, emotional, motor, communication, social and adaptive areas for children up to 3 years old presenting developmental delays.

International Center for Community Development (ICCD)

The ICCD’s goal is to enrich the lives of our youth, give them the tools to make it possible for them to reach their goals. Some of their programs include: 

• Early Learning — ICCD Early learning for young children, serving kids typically from ages 3-7, focuses on developing foundational skills and concepts before formal schooling. They aim to support children’s development in various areas, including cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical skills.
• After School Tutoring — offers a FREE innovative after-school English as a Second Language (ESL) tutoring program for school-age students who are primarily Hispanic non-English speakers, disadvantaged, underserved, coming from low income families or at-risk of educational failure and dropping out of school.  Currently ICCD serves students for three hours a day from 3:30-6:00 p.m., four days a week on an ongoing basis.

Childcare Resources

Child care resources is a private, non-profit child care resource and referral agency that works with families and communities to help ensure that children have access to high-quality, affordable early learning and school-age opportunities and experiences that enable them to succeed in school and in life. They offer parents FREE, personalized referrals to licensed child care providers in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, Rowan, and Stanly counties.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library provides books, free of charge, to children across the country until their 5th birthday. Each child receives one age-appropriate book in the mail each month.

Raising a Reader

Raising A Reader promotes literacy between parents and children by providing rotating bags of high-quality books to children enrolled in childcare centers, and by offering onsite early literacy workshops.

Reach Out and Read

Reach Out and Read gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into well-care visits in pediatric offices. and encouraging families to read aloud together. Pediatric doctors, nurse practitioners, and other medical professionals incorporate books into well-care visits and encourage families to read aloud together.

Cabarrus County Public Library

The Cabarrus County Public Library System’s mission is to connect residents with information and resources that educate, enrich and empower. CCPL library cards are available for FREE to residents of Cabarrus County (ages 5 and up), along with Rowan County residents, Cabarrus County government employees, and students and educators at educational institutions within Cabarrus County. 

With a Library card, you gain access to books, audiobooks, magazines, and DVDs at library locations, as well as online resources, programs, and events including:

• Hoopla — Borrow e-books, comics, audiobooks, music, movies and television with no holds and no waiting! Content can be streamed to computers, tablets, or smartphones, and can be downloaded to mobile devices to allow for offline viewing any time.
• NC Kids — Access a digital library of e-books, audiobooks, and Read-Alongs for youth ages pre-K through 4th grade.
• NC Kids Level Up — Access a digital library of e-books and audiobooks for youth ages 4th grade through 8th grade.
• 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten — The library has adopted this national program that promotes reading to children ages 0-5. They’ve integrated the five “Every Child Ready to Read” pillars, which provide a full range of activities and themes. Reading, writing, singing, playing and talking foster lifelong learning.
• Story Time — Library locations often offer baby and toddler story time events, as well as elementary story time events over the summer. 
• Summer Reading Program — Earn raffle prizes for completeing summer reading and join in-person programs. Summer Reading beings June 1 and ends August 15.
