We hope you’re all doing well and are staying safe and healthy.

With Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools closed until at least May 15, grab and go meals are being provided for students who need them. CMS has asked Promising Pages to provide books to supplement those meals, so that students can maintain their reading skills during this unexpected hiatus. We distributed more than 34,000 books between March 16 and April 3, and expect that number to double in the coming weeks.

Both Mecklenburg County and the State of North Carolina have issued Stay at Home orders, but many essential operations can continue to function. Promising Pages is an essential provider of social services to economically disadvantaged individuals. Accordingly, we are continuing our work during this time, taking all necessary and prudent precautions to preserve the good health of ourselves, each other, and our families.

We are not, however, able to welcome volunteers or accept book donations in person in our Operations Center while the Stay at Home order is in effect.

If you would like to donate books during this time, donations of fewer than 200 books can be made at the outdoor donation bin behind our Operations Center in South End. The bin is located across the street from 204 E. Peterson Dr., Charlotte, NC 28217.

We will be in and out of the office during this time, but feel free to contact us by email ([email protected]) if you have any questions.

Please take care of yourselves and each other. Thank you!
